Why Buy a Screen Protector?

Protecting your smartphone or iPad with a screen protector is a great idea if you plan to sell or trade in your phone when it is time to upgrade. Having a scratch free screen can help you get the most money back on your phone, and if you decide to keep your phone, you can rest easy knowing that it will stay in tip-top shape.

The most practical screen protectors are made of thin plastic, and can fit easily under almost any case. Screen protectors are meant to take the everyday thrashings from taking it in and out of bags, pockets and surviving your children. Some thin screen protectors will wear out over time and may need to be replaced. The thicker screen protectors may be able to be taken off and put back on if they form air bubbles underneath.

There are a lot of different methods out there for cleaning and installing screen protectors. We recommend staying away from methods using water, as minerals found in tap water can become trapped between your screen and protector, which may deteriorate the adhesive that makes the screen protector stick.

What You Will Need to Install a Screen Protector:

  • Plastic credit card
  • Microfiber cleaning cloth or lint free cloth (avoid paper towels or cotton cloth)
  • Screen cleaning solution

How to Install a Screen Protector

  1. Begin by using your microfiber cloth and screen cleaning solution to get the surface of your phone clean. Don’t use aerosol cleaners or abrasives. Additionally you should avoid spraying the cleaning solution directly on to phone, and instead spray on to the cleaning cloth.
  2. Take the backing off the screen protector, and line it up with the area that will require the most exact alignment. For iPhones and iPads, this is usually at the top where your speaker and camera are located.
  3. Use your credit card to adhere the screen protector to your device.
  4. If you need to reapply the screen protector because you did not get the holes lined up perfectly or there was a fleck of dust under the screen protector, simply use some scotch tape to life the screen protector off, and run through the steps again.
